The Tactical Vest is a stapple of streetwear
Streetwear, once a niche in the market, is now one of the revolving trends played by players at all levels of the fashion industry.
The tactical vest is one of its stapple silhouettes characterized by its heavy duty / technical look that combines practicality with wearability.
How can a stapple of streetwear be pushed
even further?
Raising the bar on function
To push the iconic design further, I sought to expand the functionality of the garment, by exploring solutions that allowed the vest to deconstruct into individual bags: 1 backpack and 2 sholder bags.
Streetwear takes direct reference from working gear while adding a dimension of aesthetic and attention do detail. While the process of prototyping the needed functionality to the garment was a challenge in its own right, ensuring the right cut that favors the user, demanded equal attention.
The final piece provides adjustability at 4 points, 6 zipped pockets and 2 hand pockets.
The vest transforms by separating the back from the front and unzipping the front into two. An aditional strap is linked into each bag, making it its own.
